Fall is upon us and depending where you’re at right now, you may have been ready for fall like last month. Maybe even after the first week of summer.
While I (and many others) have been looking forward to the changing seasons and the cooler weather, what I am not looking forward to is the changes in my skin.
Some of you are fortunate enough to have the type of skin that doesn’t seem to even flinch at the slightest temperature fluctuation. Others of you, myself included, react to every little environmental change. Acne, eczema, dry flaky skin, oily skin, red blotchy skin…the list goes on and on. It doesn’t help that fall and winter are right around the corner….sensitive skin’s worst enemy.
Typically speaking, the most drastic changes in skin are seen in the fall and winter months when the air is getting cooler and dryer. Hooray!
Many dermatologists I’ve seen over the years have always suggested coming up with a solid skin care action plan that works with the changing seasons.
The first, and in my opinion the most important, is your choice in a cleansing product. Soap. You can have the right moisturizer, but if your soap is too harsh you’re doing your skin more harm than good.
When I started Taylor Made Goods, I wanted to use a main ingredient that would benefit people with all skin types, and a product that was conducive to the skin changes we see as the seasons change.
Behold the power of goat’s milk: the main ingredient in TMG’s soap. I chose goat’s milk as the staple ingredient for a myriad of reasons.
First of all, goat’s milk soap is mild and gentle; so mild and gentle that people with sensitive skin can use it with no problem.
Another reason is it’s chock full of vitamins such as A, D, and E, alpha hydroxy acids (don’t worry these are good things), minerals like calcium and selenium and the cream content (or fat content) that keeps the skin moisturized.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be doing a series of posts that will go into deeper detail about the benefits of goat’s milk soap and how it can change the skin your in. Stay tuned!
